A Delaware County man has been arrested and charged for sexually abusing a child while he worked as a Boy Scout troop leader and as a teacher at a boarding school, officials said. Keith Steininger, 68, worked as a teacher at Girard College for 41 years before retiring in July of 2022. While at Girard College, he served as a troop leader for the school's Boy Scout troop. On February 15, 2024, State Police in Lowville arrested 24-year-old Dylan C. Hoch Sr. of Glenfield, NY for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (A-2 felony) and Endangering The Welfare of a Child (A-misdemeanor). Mr. Hoch is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse on 10 occasions over the course of two years, with a female child, who was between the ages of 10 and 12 at the time of the incidents. Hoch was arraigned in Lewis County CAP court and remanded to the Lewis County Public Safety Building in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. 

Officers in Newark, Delaware arrested a former Boy Scouts leader who was connected with sexual abuse within the organization across the country. Gary Matta, 66, was arrested in his home last Thursday, according to officials. Matta was charged with serial sexual abuse.

Houston police say sex crime charges have been filed against a man who was a scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America in the Spring area. HPD says Ulf Gerrit Lueders, 41, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and online solicitation of a minor. He has since been released on bond. Boy Scout volunteer, David Lee Nelson, 41, of Redmond, Wash. admitted to hiding cameras in S Bar F Scout Ranch bathrooms and pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography and two counts of attempted production of child pornography.  The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, followed by a term of supervised release of up to life.

Colin R. Schwab, 21, of South Attleboro, was sentenced to a 2 ½-year jail term which was suspended by Judge Michele Armour with probation for two years with conditions, according to court records. Schwab was an 18-year-old Eagle Scout and a senior at Tri-County Regional Vocation Technical High School when he was arrested in January 2020.
