Several scouts in his Savannah-area troop accused him of molesting them back in 1972. They said Dubois fondled them at his home and on camping trips. They also said he had oral sex with them.

According to his file, just four months after Dubois was kicked out of one of the  Savannah-area troops, a man with the same name registered to join the Boy Scouts in Montgomery, AL.

The national headquarters sent a detailed inquiry to the Montgomery branch, asking if this was same man who lived in Savanna four months earlier; the same man who worked as a teacher and who attended Armstrong State University.

Two days later, the Scout Executive of the Montgomery branch responded, saying it was not the same man, that this Dubois never lived in Savannah and never worked as a teacher.

That response also said that the Dubois who wanted to join the Scouts in Montgomery was finishing his degree a Troy University in Alabama.

An article in the Anchorage Daily News dated February 12, 1989 identifies a man named Samuel Max Dubois, Jr. as a lifetime child molester who has abused boys all over the country.

According to the article, Dubois was on the run from the FBI for sex abuse charges in both Alaska and North Carolina.

The article goes on to say that Dubois earned an education degree from Armstrong State University and later graduated from Alabama's Troy University with a degree in counseling and guidance.

He was released in 2007 and in 2012 he was living in Alaska.
