In the Clackamas County Circuit Court on February 15th, 2024, Peter Collin Simpson pled guilty in connection with charges of sexual abuse of a minor.
The investigation was conducted by the Molalla Police Department.
Peter Collins Simpson, 28, was charged with Attempt Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class C Felony. Simpson pled guilty with a sentence of 75 days jail, 60 months supervised probation, sex abuse treatment, no contact with minors, required yearly sex offender registration and additional fines and fees.
The investigation began on February 1st, 2024, after an officer found Simpson in a Molalla city park after hours with a juvenile in the vehicle. An interview of the juvenile led to the arrest of Simpson. Detectives learned that Simpson met the victim through an online chat application, known as Discord.
Formerly Simpson was an adult volunteer with Boy Scouts of America, from 2013-2016. Since 2016 Simpson was a full-time employee until February 2024. The victim has no association with the Boy Scouts of America. Boy Scouts of America has been cooperative with police and is conducting their own investigation.
Due to the nature of the crime and employment involving youth, investigators believe there may be additional victims in Oregon, Washington, and California. Investigators are asking anyone who may have been a victim to report to their local law enforcement.
