A longtime Plover Boy Scouts of America volunteer was charged Sept. 2 with sexually assaulting youth members of his troop about 20 years ago.

Steven E. Lorang, 57, of Plover, was charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, two counts of being a party to second degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, four counts of child enticement and one count of second degree sexual assault of an intoxicated person.

The charges in this case stem from incidents that allegedly happened between April 2005 and April 2008.

Portage County Circuit Judge Louis J. Molepske Jr. set a $250,000 cash bail for Lorang and ordered him to have no contact with the victims in the case, any child under the age of 18 or with Boy Scouts of America or anyone or any troops affiliated with the organization.
