Just three days after being released from prison, Robert Deweese was arrested in South Lebanon for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl inside a store.
Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said, "The guy serially engages in sexual-oriented offenses and assaults and had only been out three days when he assaulted this 6-year-old girl."
The incident occurred in the family restroom at the Five Below store, according to an incident report.
Fornshell explained that after the child had an accident, her mother instructed her daughter to stay inside the locked bathroom while she went to buy new pants. Fornshell said the mother described a special knock to signal her return.
Fornshell said, "She told the daughter that she was going to go get those pants and leave the door locked until she heard the special knock and she described to the girl what the special knock was going to be." Deweese reportedly eavesdropped on this conversation, used the special knock to gain access to the bathroom, and sexually assaulted the girl.
The child relied on a technique called the "Lion's Roar," learned at Scouts, to scream "stop" as loud as she could, startling Deweese and causing him to flee, Fornshell said.
