A former Tipton County teacher was indicted for sexual misconduct involving as many as 21 potential victims, according to the Covington Police Department (CPD).
Alissa McCommon, 38, of Covington, was indicted Tuesday on 23 counts of sexual misconduct against minors, including Rape of a Child, after a seven-month joint investigation, officials said.
Police said that the children's ages ranged between 12-17.

McCommon sexually abused a boy 12 years or under at their home in 2021, Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said, according to Memphis CBS affiliate WREG.

McCommon used to teach fifth grade at Crestview Elementary until this school year, according to the Covington Leader. She reportedly then joined Charger Academy, teaching fourth grade English/Language arts. That’s where she was working when the school district suspended her without pay on Aug. 24.

A grand jury returned a 23-count indictment against Alissa McCommon last week following a seven-month investigation that allegedly identified 21 potential victims, according to the Covington Police Department (CPD).
The charges relate to allegations stemming from five of those victims whose ages range from 12 to 17, and according to CPD, McCommons' charges include:
Rape of a Child
- 5 counts of Aggravated Statutory Rape
- 4 counts of Sexual Exploitation by Electronic Means
- 4 counts of Solicitation of a Minor to Commit Aggravated Statutory Rape
- 2 counts of Statutory Rape by An Authority Figure
- 2 counts of Coercion of a Witness
- 2 counts of Aggravated Stalking, Violation of the Child Protective Act, Tampering with Evidence and Harassment
